There has been more recent research related to ASQ and autism; however, researchers have focused more on ASQ-3 than ASQ:SE-2. To see a full list of articles, see the lists of research articles.

The research article below examined ASQ:SE-2 and identification of children at risk for ASD.

Alkherainej, K. & Squires, J. (2015). Accuracy of three screening instruments in identifying preschool children risk for autism spectrum disorder. Journal of Intellectual Disability - Diagnosis and Treatment. 3,
147-153. https://www.researchgate.net/publication/289554377_Accuracy_of_Three_Screening_Instruments_in_Identifying_Preschool_Children_at_Risk_for_Autism_Spectrum_Disorder

Please note that the ASQ authors recommend that if a child has atypical ASQ:SE-2 results and concerning response to some of the red flag ASD items, which are listed in the User’s Guide, that they should be screened with an ASD-specific tool and/or referred for evaluation.
