An institutional review board (IRB) is a committee that reviews the methods proposed for research to ensure that they are ethical. Each reserach study needs to be individually approved with an institution's specific IRB. A tool, such as ASQ-3, is not granted blanket approval to be used in research studies. Numerous IRB approved studies have been completed using ASQ at universities and hospitals throughout the United States.
